Job Search Support For Recent Grads
Today’s economy provides unique challenges for the new
graduate looking for a first job after college. More than ever before, it is
important to:
- Know what you want to do so that you can organize your job search around your goals
- Understand the basics of a job search and how to market yourself in the most effective way.
The BrownMiller Group offers career counseling services especially designed for recent college graduates. Our testing and assessment brings specific career goals and job targets into focus. Coaching regarding job search strategies increases the probability of getting interviews and offers.
These services are available on a per session/as needed basis or are available as a package.
The career counseling package for recent graduates includes seven sessions:
Session one: Introduction to the career search process, assessment of work values and the administration of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.
Session two: Interpretation of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and how it relates to individual work style: strengths, "fit" of different types of work environments, potential career areas.
Session three: Interpretation of the Strong Interest Inventory with a listing of specific jobs that match interest patterns. Information will be provided about how to research various jobs and careers.
Session four: Strategies for networking—for career research (informational interviews) and also for potential job contacts. Coaching will be provided about how to "talk about yourself" in a networking context and explain your skills and your interests.
Session five: Resume writing and cover letter development. An individual resume edit will be provided.
Session six: An overview of job search strategies: the various ways to look for jobs and how to strike the right balance between on-line searches and more personal networking.
Session seven: Interview coaching: what to expect and how to prepare. It is suggested that this session be scheduled when the client has an actual interview scheduled in order to prep that particular interview.
The cost of this package is $660. This includes seven individual hour long sessions on the topics listed above, two vocational tests and associated materials. In addition, on going e-mail support will be provided during the job search.
